TEDx Eastgate Street stage sign in-situ at Gloucester Guildhall.
Last month Gloucester hosted its first ever TEDx event platforming speakers with inspiring ideas and perspectives from the local community with the theme - Merge: Where Stories Meet, Communities Grow.

One of many aspects of making the event a success was requiring a large stage sign to be a professional, impactful backdrop to the speakers for each TEDx talk that would create a bold presence onstage. The TEDx Eastgate Street team commissioned Phoenix Consultants to fabricate this stage sign and as a Gloucester based company it is fantastic working with and supporting local community based projects that benefit the city. The opportunity to produce the official TEDx stage sign made use of rapid prototyping and modelmaking capabilities in-house at their Gloucester design studio.
See some of the making-of behind the scenes for the TEDx Stage Sign on the linked article below:
Like all design projects the development of the TEDx stage sign involved concepting, 3d CAD modelling, prototyping parts, and then 3d printing the final stage sign including the huge “TEDx” letters and the smaller “Eastgate Street” letters, as well as individual stands for each of the smaller letters, all being signed off by the TEDx Eastgate Street team prior to the event.
Beyond fabrication, the completed sign was safely stored at Phoenix Consultants’ design studio until the day of the event and assembled on stage in the Gloucester Guildhall by the Phoenix Consultants team to guarantee the installation was a success on the day!
Phoenix Consultants pride themselves on working hard to produce the best possible stage sign within the project budget and ensuring it was completed on time for the event; making every effort for this significant moment for our city.

What some of the speakers thought of the sign
“Having such a high quality sign on stage with us during the event really added so much, and made the whole night feel even better. Being able to see pictures and videos of us speaking about our passions with "TEDx Eastgate Street" behind us continues to make me proud to be involved”
– Amy Heywood, TEDx Speaker
“It was great to be a speaker and part of the TEDx Eastgate Street talk at the Gloucester Guildhall. One of the great moments was opening the door into the event stage and seeing the amazing TEDx signs on the stage, in bright red, really making a mark. It was actually quite inspiring and a real boost throughout the day and at the event itself. It actually made me realise quite how big an event this was and that there was great local support from businesses wishing us well. Thanks to all involved.”
– Ian Evans, TEDx Speaker
“The stage lettering looked brilliant. It brought the whole thing together and made the stage look really professional and polished and like a proper TEDx stage should be! I've watched loads of TED talks on Youtube so it was great to be standing there presenting against the same kind of backdrop.”
– Christina Poulton, TEDx Speaker
