INSIGHT: Phoenix Consultants’ Journey, Work, and Future Plans

Interview with our directors Luke Lutman and Kieran Scott after winning awards in product design. Hear about Phoenix Consultants, current and future projects, and the road ahead in the design industry.

Hi there, we're with Luke and Kieran from Phoenix Consultants.

LUKE LUTMAN & KIERAN SCOTT:

Please may you tell us a little bit about yourselves and Phoenix Consultants?

LUKE LUTMAN:
I'm Luke, this is Kieran, we run Phoenix Consultants out of Gloucester.
We do product design, so we take people's ideas all the way from concept all the way to product on shelf, developing through ideation, sketching, CAD, 3D printing, prototyping, and all the way to production.

INTERVIEWER:

And what would you say is the most rewarding or satisfying element of your day-to-day practice in the business?

KIERAN SCOTT:
The most rewarding part is all the different clients that we get to work with and all the variety of projects.
We've worked in so many different sectors of products, so I think that's probably the most that we've done.

LUKE LUTMAN:
We get to become the experts of people's very niche products. So we get to do a deep dive on how their product works, the sort of market it lives in, a bit of the science and engineering behind that, and then develop that into a product.

INTERVIEWER:

Do you have any projects prospects or plans, what do you hope it looks like?

LUKE LUTMAN:
We've got quite a big project that's just got some angel investment funding so that should be dropping in the next couple of months we're working on an innovate uk funded project which is really good so that's developing a rowing machine to generate energy so that's an interesting one we're working on and then a few other products.

INTERVIEWER:
Amazing.

KIERAN SCOTT:
I think as well we're hoping to expand some of our facilities and our kit in the next 6-12 months.
It's actually quite exciting as well to expand more of what we can do.

INTERVIEWER:
Definitely!
