Injection Moulding for Prototypes and Low Volume Production

At Phoenix Consultants, prototyping products is a crucial step in the product development process. This allows demonstration of function, visualisation of the look and feel of a product, and enables real world testing. Often prototypes require a compromise, such as functionality at the cost of aesthetic (or vice-versa), limitations in prototyping material over final production materials, and fabrication methods differing from production.
“We are always innovating in our prototyping capabilities to close the gap between prototype and production, making our prototypes as accurate as possible to what is actually manufactured.”
To achieve plastic prototypes that are even closer to what is produced at the manufacture stage, Phoenix Consultants recently invested in a small, bench-top injection moulder that pushes the boundaries on what a prototype can be. Utilising 3d printed proto-injection moulds, plastic parts designed for injection moulding can be prototyped and made from the final material, finish, colour, and manufacturing method.
“We believe this new addition to our prototyping facilities will be greatly beneficial to our clients and help realise products for user testing and become tangible in the hands of investors.”
This new production capability is also a great addition to Phoenix Consultants’ batch production facilities opening the possibility for low volume proto-injection moulded manufacture of parts.
