Making GIFF003 Awards - Behind the scenes
The Gloucester Independent Film Festival returns with GIFF003 in October 2026, and with that comes another set of golden awards for each of the ten film categories. Phoenix Consultants proudly created the awards for the previous festival GIFF002 and are pleased to be producing the awards again. These new awards champion the same gold bar aesthetic from before, now with implemented improvements to have a cleaner golden look and with an overhauled process to be able to achieve this.
Previous Award (GIFF002)
The previous set of awards used a combination of 3d printing, gold leaf, and hand finish modelmaking to achieve the finished award. You can see some behind the scenes of making this award in the video here.

The new GIFF003 awards take advantage of a new powdered gold fabrication method that produces a liquid metal effect and gives it a gold bar shine that was not achievable with gold leaf on the previous awards. These new awards needed a revised 3d CAD model however still utilise 3d printing from our in-house rapid prototyping facility to form the base award and plaques, and also introduce a clean matte black vinyl decal to realise the GIFF Award Winner logo.
