Commemorative Gift

Design and development support to create a gift celebrating 100 years since the Treaty of Canterbury.

Working with History Craft and Canterbury Cathedral to create a commemorative gift celebrating 100 years since the Treaty of Canterbury was signed enabling the construction of the Channel Tunnel. This gift is based from the hand carved stone plaque placed in Canterbury Cathedral.

The Process

Reference image provided by History Craft of the full size commemorative plaque hand carved in stone and installed in Canterbury Cathedral.

After assessing the reference material and agreeing a scaled down size for the gift, initial 3d CAD development is completed to create a 1:1 digital replica.

With some rapid prototyping making adjustments to the size and shape to better fit the requirements of the gift, the final master model was SLA 3d printed in a durable resin material suitable for creating a high fidelity silicone mould.
