Medica Instrumentae
Phlebotomy Syringe
Revolutionising blood taking for medical professionals and patient experience.
Three Core Solutions
The transitional model that upgrades existing syringes in circulation be able to be single handed operational when taking blood.
Adapter
An upgraded vacutainer holder to have single handed operation while being fully compatible with the vacutainer phlebotomy system.
Vacutainer
The full syringe model featuring integrated ergonomic holding and designed for optimal single handed phlebotomy.
All-in-One
Why is single handed phlebotomy better?
When taking blood, the medical practitioner will hold the syringe in one hand and steady the patient with the other. They must stop steadying the patient to pull the syringe plunger which leaves the needle in the skin unsupported.
The patented Medica Instrumentae single handed syringe solution enables taking blood from a patient using a single hand, freeing their other hand to steady the patient throughout.
This provides the patient with a more comfortable experience and the practitioner with a quicker, more efficient procedure.
The prototype demonstrated clear advantages against traditional phlebotomy with a syringe.
The Adapter Design
We developed the syringe attachment to be injection moulded in two pieces and assembled with the syringe by the user at the point of use. This optimisation for manufacture enables a low cost to produce and creates an easy entry point into the market.
The Vacutainer Design
We developed the vacutainer holder to be compatible with the vacutainer system, an alternative method for phlebotomy used in place of a traditional syringe. This enables the comfort of the ergonomic single handed grip.
The All-in-One Design
Building on the foundations of the Adaptor design, we developed the All-in-One product that incorporates the ergonomic grip and single handed use plunger directly into the syringe removing the need for a standard syringe and adaptor making it most optimal for phlebotomy.
