Starting in September 2019 we have been supporting the Gloucester Culture Trust to fulfil a key objective in Gloucester’s Cultural Vision and Strategy 2016 - 2026 set out by Gloucester City Council:

“To develop an arts, culture and creative industries hub and incubator in one of the City’s many under utilised buildings”

Phoenix Consultants undertook the design of the interior as well as creating innovative solutions for the furniture with sustainable design at it’s core. The space features three styles of studio spaces, two large multi-use spaces, a meeting room, and collaborative co-working spaces all to meet the needs of different creative disciplines.

The Design Itself

JOLT Studios is designed to encourage a friendly, creative environment that people will love to come and work in. The suspended ceiling was removed to reveal the concrete above and reclaimed pallet wood was used to create feature walls inorder to bring about an industrial feel to the space. There is strategically placed magenta and purple from JOLT Studios brand guidlines to create vibrant contrast from the earth tones. White walls keep the space light, airy and open as well as provide future opportunity for artists to refresh the aesthetic of the space offering visitors more reasons to return. Plants life is widely integrated into the design to add a more natural, homely feel to the space aesthetic, however also functionally improve the air quality as well as psychologically promoting positive wellbeing.
